Challenge and goal
Nordkalk's goal was to streamline maintenance operations at its Lappeenranta mills during maintenance shutdowns. The challenge was to manage work and ensure information flow in situations where schedules are tight and errors cannot be tolerated. The Excel lists and paper check list forms used were prone to errors, slowed down work and prevented real-time visibility into work progress.
The company felt the need for a modern, digital solution that would bring clarity, transparency, and more safety to the management of maintenance days.
Solution
The Tool4pro web application brought maintenance day management to completely real-time, from task planning to job completion confirmations. With the application, all tasks can be scheduled, assigned responsibility and updated with status information from a single view, and safety actions (LOTO) prevent work from starting before conditions are met.
The implementation was carried out in stages in close cooperation with the customer, and manual tools were abandoned. Now maintenance and production manage the progress of downtime centrally, and all workers – including contractors – start and check off their tasks with mobile devices directly from the field.
